Where It All Started
Our founder shares the story that sparked the need for Pledge + Play:
“I was driving my 10-year-old son, Bennett, to his basketball game when he made a bet with me: five bucks if he scored a three-pointer. Then he paused and asked, ‘What if we donated those five dollars to charity? Does something like that exist?’
Genius, right? What a kid. So I scoured the internet for an app that made it easy to fundraise for the community. A free team fundraising program where Bennet’s basketball team can ‘play for a purpose.’ An app that’s simple enough for a ten-year-old to use. And I found…nothing.
Dumbfounded, I had to break the news to Bennett: his big-hearted fundraising idea wasn’t possible. At least not yet.”
That’s when the idea for Pledge + Play was born: a fun, easy, and free fundraising app where schools, nonprofits, and communities can easily earn what they need, and have lots of fun doing it!

Who can use Pledge + Play?
Is Pledge + Play free?
Pledge + Play is free to set up for group organizers. Each user/supporter pays a small fee of $0.75. Please note, this processing fee is NOT taken out of donations; it’s a small additional charge donors pay.
What does Pledge + Play do with their platform fee?
Besides keeping the app running smoothly, we, too, put a portion of the platform fee into supporting causes that “play for a purpose.” Just by using our platform, you’re making a difference.
How do I start a fundraiser?
What types of fundraisers can I create?
You name it! Everything from your kid’s travel league, to live concerts, to school recitals. You can host a stadium-wide donation challenge, sign up your youth group to make a funny video, or create a community service fundraiser. No matter what you come up with, whether you’re fundraising as a school, an entire stadium, or as a family, we’ll make sure it runs smoothly. Can I run multiple fundraisers at once?
How long does a fundraiser last?
It depends on the type. Some are quick (like one-day Stadium Play or Community Votes! events,) while others run up to 30 days (like Press Play! fundraisers). After it’s finished, the fundraiser will automatically be closed and removed from our platform. If you want to delete it sooner, the group administrator can remove or cancel the fundraiser any time before 30 days.
Who can see videos posted on Pledge + Play?
How does someone donate?
In order to participate, you need to go to pledgeandplay.com, and click “Join Group.” You’ll then enter your unique group code, giving you access to the intro video from your group and the ability to view current voting results. Then you can choose which option you’d like to vote for. Every time you buy a vote, you send funds towards the group cause!
Are there set minimum or maximum fundraising goals?
How much does the fundraiser/charity receive?
Pledge + Play doesn’t take a cut of your funds. 100% of pledged donations go directly to your cause, minus the standard payment processing fee (2.9% + $0.30/donation, handled by Stripe™. This results in your charity receiving 95.6% of raised funds.
How and when do I receive my funds?
Donations will show up in your linked account within 7-10 days, following Stripe’s™ processing time.
Can donors get a tax receipt?
I lost my code. What do I do?
No problem! Just email us at info@pledgeandplay.com with your group, school, or organization, and we’ll get you sorted.
